Ampersand and Poundland have been selected finalists in the Retail Week Awards. This is an outstanding achievement after launching Poundland’s transactional website in September 2015.
Online shopping is a large part of consumer life in the UK. According to the Centre for Retail Research, UK consumers spent an average of £1,174 online in 2015, making UK consumers the most frequent online shoppers in Europe. Several exercises in customer research provided compelling feedback that there was demand for an online shopping website and Poundland needed to provide customers the opportunity to shop online to complement over 550 stores across the UK.
Customer Experience of the Year category criteria:
Highlighting an initiative launched by a retailer that delivers new standards in customer service and experience, this award is looking for examples of excellence that have been introduced during the last 12 months that demonstrating that your business understands the commercial benefits of a commitment to customer service and providing a great customer experience. It is open to retailers operating through any combination of channels. This is a wide-ranging category which may include, for instance, anything from queue busting initiatives to in-store dining or website navigability.

This year Retail Week received a record number of entries, especially in the Technology and Customer Experience categories. Ampersand and Poundland are honoured to receive such high recognition amongst this strong competition. The awards ceremony will be held on the 17 March 2016 at Grosvenor House, London.
